This is not a new concept but suddenly the whole world is interested in web 3.0. Web 3.0 has been hyped in recent days. The whole world is talking about it. Before entering WEB 3.0 we must understand WEB 1 and Web 2.0.
Web 1
In 1990 Berners-Lee introduced the World Wide Web (WWW) to us . That was the first stage of the Internet. That was also known as Web 1, where sites were only used to be read only types. Between the years of 1991-2004 the internet was only a bunch of static pages. We could see some files only, there was no login and nothing. We can see the things shown only. We were unable to interact with the files and posts. It was like one big Wikipedia and hyperlink together. People were consumers only for web 1.
Web 2.0
The Internet which we have been using for the last 15 to 20 years is the 2.0 version of the internet. From 2004 to till now the internet has evolved a lot. By interacting with the internet we can gather a lot of information. Not only us but the internet itself gathers a lot of information about us.
Whenever we surf the internet, youtube or google something the internet gathers a lot of information about us and by the received datas it serves us better datas as per their profitability. They make huge money by selling our datas to advertising agencies.
In one sentence we can say that web 2.0 is the age of targeted advertising and lack of privacy of users. But we are willing to give these privacy too by allowing agreements while browsing the internet. One centralized company is controlling all our datas whether we want it or not.
Web 3.0
Web 3.0 is the next revolution of the internet likely to utilize blockchain technology and tools of decentralization. Where we are no consumers we are the owner on the internet. In 2.0 we were a product for the internet but in web 3.0 we will be the owner of the contents which we will post to the online. We will have full authority over our data.
Artificial Intelligence and machine learning algorithms will play a crucial role in web 3.0. Aim of web 3.0 is to provide faster and relevant data to end users. So it is also known as Semantic Web.
Web 3.0 will be fully decentralized means no central authority will control our data and we have full ownership of ours. Because of decentralization It will have larger sets of data which provides us greater information availability. Because of AI web 3.0 can provide us unbiased and more relevant data.
The Web still has the dominance of large corporations and centralized authorities. So web 3.0 is here to change all the rules of the internet. It will make all internet surfing people owner of their personal data. They will control the profits which are being generated from the corporations by using our data.
